Stepping Stones

Images via We Heart It

I have already talked to you all about my want to write and draw on the walls and I'm still not content. I'm talking my paint brushes and chalk sticks to the stairs too. Why not add a creative streak to an often neglected and overlooked feature of your home and stencil your favourite quotes, lyrics or just a witty remark to brighten up your day. If you're anything like me the chalk paint stairs could be your ultimate daily to do list message board.

The Writing's On The Walls

Though many people like to hang art on their walls I mostly just want to paint, draw and write on mine. I already have a habit to leaving post-its with memos all over the house so why not take it a step further and paint notes and reminders where I did them most. Why should drawing on the walls be something that only children get to enjoy?

Wouldn't It Be Lovery

All I want is a room somewhere, far away from the cold night air.

Here is a moodboard for my very own make believe abode. A place of eclectic elegance and simple adornment. A haven for the wandering soul and a throve of rugged charm where rustic meets city, vintage meets modern, life meets peace and he meets me. Oh wouldn't it be loverly?

Retro Prints

The darling Eliza J recently introduced me to the wonderful work of Claudia Varosio; quirky illustrated posters, paper dolls and retro prints. These prints ship worldwide from London. Here's a collection of some of my favourites;

Carriage Hideaway

As I revealed in my first Hostess post I have a real fascination with trains especially those of the olden days and black and white movies. After spending too much time on the internet I came across a site that sells old heritage carriages and I've decided to buy an old train carriage and convert it into my personal haven. Comfortable recliners, velevt curtains and an old movie projector to have all the classics flicker across the window panes...

Join the Caravan of Love.....

One of my new years resolution is to put the love in to my Brick Lane abode and make it beautiful. I will be trawling the local markets throughout 2011 to look for knick knacks and ideas to make my castle unique and beautiful - ikea will be avoided if possible!

My trek will be helped along by my favourite Christmas present, Cheap Chic, a book project spearheaded by Emily Chalmers who owns the adorable Caravan on Redchurch Street. I want almost everything in this store, but especially the Hand printed wallpaper. Oh how I wish I wasn't a renting! The book is somewhat of a style bible, chock full of thrifty ideas make the most of your space, so it can be truely stunning.

I like everything in my home to have a story, whether its our adopted Buddha, who was an unwanted prop for the National Theatre, or the metal "Andy" sign found on new years eve 2010.I am yet to meet you, "Andy".

My Lost Tree House of Whimsy

Welcome to my shabby chic tree house; a haven for the enchanted, the misused and the abandoned. Here you'll find me reading palms, foreseeing the future and snaring the local woodsman. My bedchamber of cast away lovers and my gypsy cursed heart, a lounge for playing and a kitchen eating with my clan. Each room with scattered faux fur skins and a suitcase in each corner awaiting my departure. A collection of clocks to tell the time, ticking and tocking the distance between us. When the time comes I'll leave it all for you.
